Authorities bust cocaine ring on Long Island

Authorities took down a coast-to-coast drug ring on Long Island after a yearlong investigation that led to the arrests of 20 people.

Members of the massive operation would transport as much as 40 pounds of cocaine at a time from Los Angeles, said Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota. The drugs were then sold throughout Long Island.

The Department of Homeland Security and the Suffolk Police Department raided several homes on June 17, where they seized $440,000 in cash, 39 guns, and nine pounds of cocaine.

“It was a large amount of cocaine that was going out into the streets, you can be assured of that,” Spota said Wednesday.
